Pioneer in Rubber Mixing Technology Since 1960
HF Rubber Machinery, Inc. was established by Leonard Smith in 1960 under the name Midwest Machine Works. The company's initial focus was on rebuilding tire molds for the local Goodyear tire plant. Through Smith’s connections with Goodyear and other tire producers, Midwest Machine Works grew and began manufacturing rubber mixers in the early 1970s.
Midwest Machine Works developed innovative products such as bead-wrapping machines, Adams T-Mix modifications for optimized floor space, and large single-screw dump extruders. The company gained international recognition when Werner & Pfleiderer of Freudenberg, Germany, purchased it in 1989, later rebranding it as Midwest Werner & Pfleiderer. Subsequent name changes included Krupp Rubber Machinery and Thyssen Krupp Rubber Machinery until the Possehl Group acquired the parent company in 2005, renaming it HF Rubber Machinery, Inc. (HFRM).
After the acquisition of FARREL in 2009 the group consolidated all US-based rubber mixing business operations in Topeka, prompting the expansion of a new assembly and warehouse facility in 2014. With a workforce of 80 employees, HFRM serves customers in both the tire industry and technical rubber goods sector in North America, Canada, and Mexico.
The strengths of HFRM include:
Rebuilding all mixer types and sizes to original specifications.
Supplying mixer spare parts through a robust stocking program.
Installing and maintaining rubber mixing equipment, including upstream and downstream machinery.
As part of the HF GROUP, HFRM continues to expand, introducing new products into the North American rubber market.
